A town with history, industrial estates and plenty going on
San Fernando de Henares grew up in the eighteenth century around the Real Fábrica de Paños (Royal Cloth Factory), in the time of Fernando VI, which is where its name comes from. Its old town centres on the Plaza de España, and from there the town stretches out towards the newer residential areas and the river Jarama. Today it sits alongside a very strong industrial and logistics sector next to the main roads into Madrid.
