A village at the top of the pass
Somosierra gives its name to the mountain pass that the A-1, the northern motorway, crosses on the border between the provinces of Madrid and Segovia. It is a pass steeped in history, known for the Battle of Somosierra in 1808, during the Peninsular War, and today it is a small, quiet village at the foot of the motorway.
The way to Barajas is simple: down the A-1 towards Madrid and on to the airport. What does change is the weather: at such altitude, in winter there may be snow, ice or fog, and that is worth bearing in mind when you set your pickup time. The price, in any case, is always the same.

Who travels by taxi from Somosierra
Somosierra has very few residents during the year and quite a few more in summer and at weekends.
