01

Santorcaz, a village with plenty of history and little transport

Santorcaz lies east of Alcalá de Henares, in the heart of the farming countryside. It preserves the remains of the castillo de Torremocha, once the summer residence of the archbishops of Toledo, and its municipal area is home to the Carpetanian archaeological site of El Llano de la Horca. In the centre, the landmark is the church of San Torcuato.

What it does not have is a railway station or a direct link to Barajas: public transport is the bus that runs to Alcalá de Henares. To reach a terminal with luggage, a booked taxi saves you changing vehicles and waiting at bus shelters.

Plan your departure with time to spare

From Santorcaz it pays to work out the time carefully. Start from your flight's departure, subtract 2 hours for a European destination or 3 for an international one, and then the journey to Barajas. The driver heads down towards Alcalá de Henares and the A-2 or takes the clearest route according to traffic; the price is the same whichever way they go.

Book a day ahead whenever you can, and several days ahead if you are travelling over a long weekend or in summer. If you need the taxi in less than two hours, call us by phone. Here are some tips for getting to your flight on time.
